Slovenia vs Serbia: Late Jovic Goal Earns Serbia a Point

Slovenia and Serbia played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in their opening match of UEFA EURO 2024.

Christian Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest during last year's Euros, scored the opener for Denmark in the first half. However, Serbia substitute Luka Jovic headed home a late equalizer to salvage a point for his side.

The match was played in front of a passionate crowd in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Denmark had the better chances in the first half, but it was Serbia who took the lead on the stroke of halftime.

Eriksen, who has been in excellent form for Manchester United this season, picked up the ball on the edge of the Serbia area and drove into the box. He cut inside and fired low into the bottom corner to give Denmark a deserved lead.

Serbia came out with more purpose in the second half and created several chances of their own. Jovic was a constant threat with his aerial ability, and he eventually got his goal with just minutes remaining.

The draw leaves both teams with one point after their opening matches. Slovenia will next face England on Thursday, while Serbia will take on Denmark.
